Our oldest was a reluctant driver, and I am kicking myself for not getting her permit before March 2020 when she was eligible the previous December, because all those empty roads would have been great to learn on! But, alas, I had just had a baby and could only focus on one thing at a time. The permit would have to wait another year, and by then driving had become a mental "thing". (Probably exacerbated by the general neurosis in the air at the time, but I digress...) The second child got licensed before the first child, and finally was able to take himself to school and practice. That was super nice! We are on the 3rd child now learning. If we get our act together he can do the school driving next year. Fingers crossed! I imagine having a reliable teen driver is similar to when you finally don't have to pay for babysitters anymore... SO liberating!!!
